Te Puni Kōkiri
Te Puni Kōkiri leads policy advice to the Government on Māori development, and Iwi and Māori relations with the Crown. By drawing strength from the past, Te Puni Kōkiri is committed to building an Aotearoa New Zealand where whānau ca n all stand, thrive and belong.
Recognising that te reo Māori is fundamental to our nation’s culture and unique identity, Te Puni Kōkiri is focused on supporting the growth of a healthy and vibrant te reo Māori me ōna tikanga – as a taonga recognised by the Crown and protected by Te Tiriti o Waitangi | Treaty of Waitangi.
Leading in Māori public policy thinking, Te Puni Kōkiri monitors and mentors the public service to strengthen delivery to, for and with Māori. Te Puni Kōkiri also encourages a whānau-centred, locally led, government enabled approach to support Māori communities across Aotearoa.
