Best practice guidelines

If you need translations completed in your workplace here are some things to consider.

  • Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Maori does not offer translation services to the public however, we do license translators and interpreters. You can find our National Translators Register which lists qualified translators who can help you.
  • Not all reo Māori speakers are translators. This is a specialist skill that takes training and practice. It is important to prepare well ahead and enquire early with a translator.  Depending on the content and size of your translation, timeframes and cost will vary. This will need to be negotiated between you and the translator.
  • Quality translations are essential for public services - we recommend you seek the help of one of our certified translators.
