Revitalisation of te reo Māori is at the heart of what we do here at Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori. Our mission is to give effect to the status of te reo Māori as an official language, to promote te reo Māori as an ordinary means of communication and as a living language, and to lead the coordination of implementing Te Maihi Karauna (Crown Māori Language Strategy).

We provide an environment where the Public Sector, Private Sector and wider communities can value, learn, and speak te reo Māori. We want all New Zealanders to celebrate and enjoy New Zealand’s language as part of our national identity – everywhere, every way, and every day.

Senior Digital Communications Advisor

Normalising and revitalising te reo Māori is what Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori (Te Taura Whiri), the Māori Language Commission does. We put te reo Māori into action as an official language, and promote te reo Māori as an ordinary means of communication and a living language for all New Zealanders.

Join the Māori language movement and be part of the future you want to see for te reo Māori.

About the Roles

We have two roles available in our communications and promotions team - Te Toko Reo. As the voice of Te Taura Whiri, the team takes a lead role in promoting te reo Māori as a living language on a variety of digital platforms, through events and in relationships with a range of groups.

Senior Digital Communications Advisor

The Senior Digital Communications Advisor will be the eyes and ears across our digital platforms. You will help design and plan what, when and why content should appear on our websites and social channels. You will work closely with our Principal Communications Advisor - Social Media on strategies for specific digital campaigns such as Ngā Tohu Reo Māori (Māori Language Awards) and Te Wiki o te Reo Māori. If you love te reo Māori and creating fun and engaging content, we would love to hear from you.
