50th anniversary of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 

This year marks 50 years of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori. A milestone that honours five decades of activism, growth and commitment to ensure te reo Māori remains a living, everyday language in Aotearoa.

This logo features a contemporary interpretation of the heitiki and is an evolution of the ‘Ake Ake Ake – A Forever Language’ logo released during Te Wiki 2024. The colours of the number 50 echo the colours of the original heitiki logo and features the niho taniwha design used in tukutuku, tāniko and whakairo; a symbol of strength, resilience and leadership.
