The annual Māori Language Awards have been held every year since 2004. It’s a way we can join with our partners across Te Whare o te Reo Mauriora to honour amazing people and unforgettable projects that are helping to revitalise te reo Māori.
The Awards will be held on Friday, 26 April 2024 in Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington).
The nomination period has been extended, and will now close on 10 December, 2023. For more information about this extension, see FAQs below.
Please note: applications are being considered for work done from 1 September, 2022 to 10 December, 2023.
There are nine categories open for nominations. The tenth award will be Te Tohu Oranga Angitu – Lifetime Achievement Award, with the recipient to be announced on the night.
Here are some details about what each category is, who can apply, and some of the criteria.
